Book Reviews of Bloodfever (Fever Series, Book 2)Book Review: Moning continues exquisite writing in her 6 part series... Summary: 5 StarsThe tension is building in this second instalment. The attraction is building between the enigmatic Jericho Barrens and 'Mac'.The secondary characters are coming through loud and clear, especially the sexy(of course!)V'lane (the death-by-sex faerie.
A marvelous world is created by Moning as she captures the fey world in a palpable and joyous mix of imagination and sensual and sexual delights.
She is giving us Jericho in achingly small increments which I am sure will blossom into a most revealing sexual romp between he and Mac.
The world created by Ms. Moning is par excellence and I have already pre-ordered Faefever. The website for this series is awesome!
I also appreciate her glossary of terms and pronunciations which I find invaluable.Wonderful, sensual, sexy characters
Book Review: The adventure and death defying battles never quit Summary: 5 StarsCourtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques
NOTE: This series is progressive, each picking up where the other left off so it is impossible to avoid spoilers of preceding books. If you don't like spoilers, do NOT read this review until you've finished Darkfever.
After MacKayla Lane went to Ireland to find the answers to her sister's death, Mac found a new world she never knew existed. Mac may have defeated the Dark Lord who killed her sister, but she still has many enemies to face. Then there is the added fact that she has recently learned she is not who she thought she was and may have a whole new legacy to uphold.
With two equally disturbing men vying for her attention and her loyalty to their respective mission, Mac is learning Jericho Barrons has so many secrets of his won. Then there's Seelie prince V'lane who just wants to seduce her. But the evil book, the Sinsar Dubh is still out there and until it is found and protected, there is constant fear of the nasty Unseelies or other baddies gaining control. But how can she retrieve the book when her sidhe-seeing abilities cause her great agony whenever it is close? Then there is the question of who is the mysterious old woman who keeps popping up in Mac's life?
The adventure and death defying battles never quit in Karen Marie Moning's dark fantasy Fever series. I am quite happy to see in Bloodfever that Mac has gained a little more skill and maturity as her story continues. I had a few moments I wanted to smack her for doing something foolish, but there were far fewer instances of this than there were in Darkfever. As she learns more about the Fae world in Dublin, she comes to realize how grave the situation is. She also begins to come into her abilities more fully, and discovers a few things about herself she never expected.
I have to admit though that many times I was sitting here thinking as I listened, just what the heck is Jericho Barrons? He was a mystery in Darkfever but here in Bloodfever he is so much more mysterious. He seems like one of the good guys, but is he really? I have a couple theories as to what he is and what his plans entail so I hope to find out before too long if my hunches are correct.
Once again Joyce Bean does a brilliant job of performing the story and I am so grateful I didn't have to learn all those confusing words and how to say them! I'd be entirely lost if I had to begin to guess how to say half of them. Joyce Bean is one of my favorite audio book performers and Bloodfever cements her even more securely in my selected list of "I'd listen to them read the phone book" narrators.

Book Review: Save Your Money! Summary: 1 StarsAlthough Karen Marie Moning is the writer of my favorite time travel books, her new series is punishing to read. I bought the first book in the series because Karen wrote it, and although I wasn't very happy with it, I thought it had potential, and that I would hang on for the next installment where it would, hopefully, get better.
The second book reads like a nightmare where you are trying to run away from something without any forward progress. I found myself checking the pages to see how far into the book I had read, thinking if I could just hang on, something interesting would happen. The only thing that happened was at the end of the book, and it was, in the words of my youth, "A total gross out". Spoiler:
To have your heroine eat a sentient being, while still alive and wiggling in her mouth mind you, and then glory in it--in fact get a sexual charge over it--well, this is not my kind of book at all.
When I read a book I want to like the characters and route for them, not feel like they are boring and unlikeable. Neither of the main characters fits the role of a hero or heroine, and can meet their demise in the next book for all I care about them.
Karen, throw out your five book outline for this series, wrap it up in the third novel, and get back to writing really good stories again!
Book Review: Simply Fantastic Summary: 5 StarsI hesitated picking up Moning's new Fever series for two reasons: it was written in first person and I was partial to her Highlanders. What a disservice I was doing myself!
When I devoured Darkfever, I immediately got Bloodfever. I devoured that one, too. Mac is a wonderful character who has changed from the spoiled, pretty girl to a tough, butt-kicking woman. I love her. I love reading her story. And Jericho is just downright hot and sexy. This book made me laugh and cry.
Moning's first person storytelling is masterful. She knows how to immediately immerse you into Mac's life. You feel her pain. You root for her to win and you boo the bad guys. I love this book. It's definitely staying on my Keeper Self. I can't wait for book three!
Book Review: getting better and better Summary: 5 StarsFIVE stars!!
Bloodfever was even better than Darkfever!!
Loved it.
The characters are developing along nicely..some new mysteries coming up while we are finding out some answers from the last book.
The Hero and heroine are fabulous together and i can't wait to read more of their journey..
This series is more involved that Karen's Highlander series, even though i can see some minor similarities,i believe this series will surpass it!
