Book Reviews of Bloodsucking FiendsBook Review: Good, quick beach-type read Summary: 4 Stars
As a huge fan of Moore's "Lamb", I was hoping for a similar quality book from this series. Though the story is a quick read, funny in places, and overall relatively entertaining, it does not come close to the hilarity and insightfulness of "Lamb." I typically re-read books over and over, but this is one I have yet to pick up since my initial reading.
Book Review: HILARIOUS Summary: 5 Stars
An absolutely perfect summer read. Chris Moore's humor is wonderful; witty, quick, sarcastic. Highly recommended.
Book Review: HILARIOUS!!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
Tremendous fun! This book wasn't marked by as much profanity as some of Moore's others, which I appreciated. I'm not a prude, and in fact, I can be pretty colorful, but I don't really like to read F-word after F-word, when it seems gratuitous. Having read A Dirty Job before this book, I was pleased to see characters I recognized, like the Emperor. This book was great fun - light reading for those with a dark sense of humor. I can't wait for the sequel!
Book Review: Humor...with Bite Summary: 5 Stars
If other vampire yarns are getting too melodramatic for you, or you just want to relax and read something that'll make you laugh out loud, you can't go wrong with this superlative novel about life after undeath.
Book Review: I want Moore Summary: 4 Stars
After reading this novel, I find that I want more. More of the backstory of the vampire, more of the story of Jody and C Thomas Flood. The vampire ship is fascinating, yet it plays such a small role in the story. There is a great deal of material here, and much of what is exposed is only the surface. So much going on, blink and you miss it...
It's a good thing "You Suck: A Love Story" is coming out in a few months.
Like all Christopher Moore, this novel is poignant and hilarious. The narrative points to deeper meaning, and explores subtle complexities of existence, whether discussing relationships, the supernatural, or bronzed terrapin. Did I mention you will laugh? Hard?
With Christopher Moore, I need to remind myself constantly to slow down and savor the read. Unfortunately, this never works.
