Book Review: Bob Books are brilliant!

I had been looking for some books for my daughter who was coming up to 4 and had learnt her letters at nursery using the jolly phonics system. She really enjoyed the songs and movements but I wanted her to be able to put some letters together to form words. The trouble is all first readers books seemed to rely on memory or pictures rather than working it out - a lot of them have pictures of familiar items with labels underneath eg drum, apple, etc. When I found Bob Books I was delighted. She took to them straight away because she could work it out - m a t spells mat. Most of the words in these books can be worked out like this, and once she had grasped the concept of joining the sounds up to make words there was no stopping her. She got really excited whenever she reached the end of the book and could read 'The End!! And as there are 12 in the box there was always another one to move onto. I would thoroughly recommend these books for pre-schoolers who are raring to go, know their letters, love books and have a sense of humour - they are briliant!
