Book Review: A fun quirky blend of mystery and romance
Summary: 4 Stars
This is the first in a series and I'm glad I found it. It's a blend of romance and mystery, lightend with a bit of humor.
The characters are unusual for a romance. Our heroine, Carlotta, is a successful salesclerk at Neiman Marcus in Atlanta. She's spunky and not the usual shy retiring type that often stars in romances. She had to raise her brother after their parents disappeared when her wealthy father was accused of fraud. Her brother is smart and good at heart, but is in trouble with the law and makes lots of bad decisions. He ends up getting a part-time job hauling bodies for the morgue. Carlotta has three interesting and sexy men vying for her attention: Coop, the disgraced, former Medical Examiner who now works hauling bodies for the morgue and took a chance on her brother; Peter, her wealthy former fiance who broke up with her after her father disappeared, but is now interested in her again; and Jack, the gruff Atlanta PD detective who arrested her brother and seems to be constantly crossing paths with Carlotta as she gets into trouble.
Stephanie Bond is a prolific author who knows how to write a good story. The characters are appealing. The mystery is intriguing. It's a good start for a fun series. I recommend it.
