Book Review: "Born to Run" is a great read for non-runners, too
Summary: 5 Stars
The reviewer who signs himself D. Sull has hit the nail on the head on all fronts. I agree 100% with the major points in his review. I purchased this book because I had heard the author speaking about his book on the Bob Edwards Show, on NPR. It sounded interesting, even though I have never been a runner. The first two chapters had me wondering if this story was "for real" or if it was just a hoax as the author describes his travels through the jungle. After that, however, I couldn't put the book down as I read about the various ultra runners, the author's discourse on why expensive running shoes cause injuries, the nutrition advice from all parties mentioned in this book, the anecdotes about the various tribes and tribe members involved in ultrarunning, the stories about the wonderful people who supported these runners and the author's premise that we are all "born to run". READ D. Sull's REVIEW. I babble on and on; whereas, he has described the book, the stories and the underlying major themes in an exceptionally articulate and professional manner.
