Book Reviews of Bravo Two Zero: The Harrowing True Story of a Special Forces Patrol Behind the Lines in IraqBook Review: Awsome Summary: 5 Stars
This book was great, the detail was just amazing. Now people are saying it isn't real because one guy says it isn't? Andy McNab, at the time he retired, was the most highly decorated soldier in the history of the British, and he still might be. Now, I think his credability is pretty good compared to the other guys...Anyway, read this book, it's one of the best ever!
Book Review: Baghdad or bust!! Summary: 5 Stars
I found this to be a compelling book. I was never bored while reading this book. This book chronicles the patrol of an SAS unit behind the lines in Iraq during the Persian Gulf war. Their mission was to locate and knock out the SCUDS as well as destroy communication lines. The patrol lead by Andy McNab had problems from the start and four members were captured by the Iraqis.Half the book deals with the patrol before the capture, and half with life as a prisoner of war. The entire book is a fascinating account and worth the read. The SAS is a secretive organization and this book is a look inside. Some of the story seems larger than life, but I guess the SAS is larger than life.
Book Review: Best Book I Ever Read Summary: 5 Stars
If I could, I would rate this book 500 stars! It's the best book I've ever read it even beats Rainbow Six!It's about a group of 9 SAS members dropped off Saudi, ordered to blow up a pipeline in Iraq leading to the SCUD Launchers (Weapons of mass destruction). The mission goes horribly wrong, but I won't go too into the story, I'll leave the suspense in for you. But, this is a must read and it's better than the [bad] BBC movie, so read this first.
Book Review: Best book I've read all year Summary: 5 Stars
Andy McNab is a born storyteller and he has a great, real-life story to tell of his experiences as an SAS officer dropped into Iraq and subsequently captured after a chase across the desert. Read his other book "Immediate Action" next.
Book Review: Bravo Two Zero Summary: 5 Stars
This book is one of the most gripping books I have ever read. I've read quite a few military based books, from the history of the SAS to Rainbow Six, but I have to say this was the best. Right from the start, McNab's character shines through, along with the feelingn that he has for the rest of his team. The story is a mix of sadness, 8 went out, 5 came back, one shot through the head the other two dieing of exposure in a river, from humour and elation when the team first learn that they are to be dropped into "scud alley". The team, although only 8 of them, kill or put out of action over 250 Iraquis during the war after having to make a run for the Syrian border after a Shepherd boy discovers them and alerts the military. Chris Ryan, a member of the team makes the 100 mile walk, while the rest are captured and tortured, however they still do not let up their true identities, and are beaten for being suspected Israeli. This book also reaffirms the belief among many that the SAS is truly the ultimate fighting force in the world. A good all round book, a must have for any military literature fan!
