Book Reviews of Brian's Winter

Book Review: Awesome Book!
Summary: 4 Stars

I think that Brian's Winter is an interesting story. The author is Gary Paulsen who has written many great books. Brian's Winter is the third book after Hatchet. The book "The River" comes after Hatchet. Brian's Winter tells about what would have happened if Brian didn't get rescued out of the Canadian forests when he did and how he had to go through a strong and cold Canadian winter without and supplies besides the stuff he rescued from the plane. I liked this book because it tells about an interesting story of a boy on his own stranded away from home in a forest. Brian's Winter is just one of the five books of a series and I think you should definitely read it!

Book Review: Best Book Ever
Summary: 5 Stars

Thirteen year old Brian stuck in the wilderness only armed with a hatchet. He is alone in a Canadian wilderness. It happened when the plane crashed. The main idea is surviving in the wild. I really like this it is a adventures and entertaining. You will be suprised about the ending. It is a really good book i say one of his best. My favorite part was when the bear attacked him wile he was sleeping you will like it too.

Book Review: Better than Hatchet I would say
Summary: 5 Stars

I have never read a book that has a better sequel than its original book but Brians Winter was definatly as good if not better than Hatchet. They are two extremely descriptive books which I adore.

Book Review: Book Critic on Brian's Winter, by Gary Paulsen
Summary: 4 Stars

B.O'
The book is a sequel to Gary Paulsen's pervious book, Hatchet. Summer has long since passed and it is fall already. Brian (the main character), who is trapped alone in the wilderness from a plane crash, made it through the summer. He notices changes in the weather, then nature tests him. Will he be able to make it in the winter, in extreme, arctic, sub-zero conditions? Through the winter he learns to adapt. He learns the concept - if the world doesn't adapt to you, you adapt to the world. He made an airtight shelter to live in complete with a fire pit and everything. He learns how to hunt, build tools, make food and make clothes. And make use of everything he had. Although by now he misses his family a lot, he has a calling, a calling to stay alive, come home and make it through the winter.
I felt that this was a pretty good book. It was definitely in my top three favorites, which include Holes and After the War. I like how it was set up and created good imagery in my head by the way the author writes. You can almost see the book unfolding in your head right before your eyes. I liked how it went in a certain order following what happened to Brian through the seasons. It didn't skip around with things that happened in the past that can be confusing to read. When the author wrote about that bitter cold day I could actually feel the biting cold by how he described the forest that day and how still it was. I could really sense and feel the trees exploding. The only thing I didn't like was all of the killing of animals and the sometimes-graphic descriptions of their bloody slaughters. When these were depicted they went on for a long time and I just wanted it to be over.
On a scale of 1-10, I would give this book a rating of 9 due to its great descriptions and detailed writing. Overall, I personally, I think this was a great novel. I loved it. It keeps you guessing till the end. It had lots of action and suspense. I liked it so much; I think I'll read it again, although I'm not much of a book person.

Book Review: Brain Winter Review
Summary: 3 Stars

In this essay I will be writing about Brain's Winter. This will include the title of the book, author, and a summary of the novel. I will also write my rating of this book. I will write about the author's purpose of the novel, and about the best literary element that the author uses in this novel. I will also be writing about the main character of this novel Brian Robeson.
The title of the novel is Brain's Winter. The novel was written by Gary Paulsen. The purpose of this novel was to inform us and teach us how to survive in the wilderness. I agree with the author's purpose of writing this novel. I think that it is important for us to know how to survive in the wilderness.
The literary element that was handled by the author would be the characters. Gary Paulsen gave a good description of the characters like Brian Robeson. He gave me a good image of all the characters in this novel. The main character in this story was Brian Robeson. I think I would like to have Brain help me to survive in the wilderness. I think he learned a lot from his experience in the wilderness and he would be a big help.
On a scale of 1 to 5 I would rate this book a 3. The basic reason is because of the great descriptions that the author gave us. In the beginning there wasn't a lot of action and excitement but towards the middle and the end of the novel the excitement picked up with the moose encounter and all the hunting that he did. I thought that the author wrote a great book and the only bad thing was in the beginning of the book. He wasn't as excited as the rest of the book was.
In conclusion I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read exciting and adventurous books. This was an overall pretty good book. It was written well.
