Book Review: The why of baby care
Summary: 5 Stars
New moms have abundant sources of child care reads - I have gone through at least 4 baby books myself - and they seemed to be all but a wash until I came across Dr Stamm's book. It finally helped answer the question of "why" on all the baby advice I had been bombarding myself with. The book helps you understand things that as an emotionally and physically stable mom you are naturally doing. It is things like - why spend time with your child without the presence of a TV or computer screen, why roll around on the floor with the baby instead of strapping him/her in a swing or a jumper for hours on end, why take time to pick your child's caregivers, and more. It helped me understand why and how being an attentive parent who follows her instincts and minimizes distractions translates into a happier, brighter, more focused child.
Dr Stamm's book helps raise the parent just as much as the child but in a way that is non-judgmental and very understanding of the pressures most of us are under. Dr Stamm has a very compelling story as a parent and it is her story and the stories of her children that inspired me to read and learn.
I can only thank these three women - Dr Stamm and her two daughters for dedicating their work and lives to the needs and development of little babies and toddlers who cannot yet stand up for themselves :)
