Book Review: Provides few specifics for raising boys.

If you are looking for specifics of how to bring up boys this is book is probably not for you. The positive recommendations of the book are the presence of a strong father, a stay at home mother, home schooling, and a Christian faith. The author sees these as key to successfully raising boys. However, much of the book is devoted to negatives. A substantial portion of the text warns about of the dangers of the media, feminists, gays, public schools, ?postmodernism?, and the government. For example, the words ?feminist? and ?feminism? (accompanied by the adjectives ?noisy?, ?radical? and ?activist?) appear fifteen times in four and one half pages of Chapter 2. In a university class on Logic I learned that analogies do not provide a logical proof. Analogies abound throughout this book.If you are interested in books on child rearing written by a Christian author you can find better. For example, while not dealing specifically with boys, ?Who?s In Charge Here?? by Dr. Bob Barnes provides many concrete ideas and specific suggestions for successfully raising children and in the process ?badmouths? no individuals or groups.
