Book Reviews of Bunny TalesBook Review: I was SO curious...then BORED SENSELESS Summary: 2 Stars
I admit it - I watch the Girls Next Door. It's fun, frivilous and gives a neat look into what goes on at the Playboy Mansion. My husband actually read about this book and suggested I get it - partly because he knows I'm interested in it, mainly so I could read it and then just tell him all the dirt. I'm incredibly curious to see what life is like behind the scenes at the Mansion for some reason - it's just seems so different, so decadent. In all honesty - I wanted to know about the stuff that's completely none of my business like what the girlfriends' get as allowance, do they get a car, who sleeps with who, etc. etc. And those questions were answered - however getting there was almost insufferable. Izabella has a law degree - I get it. Next? Izabella wants everyone to know over and over that she's an educated non-tramp - unlike (in her obvious opinion) every other girl that's been in the house. She single-handedly put down every person that crossed her path re: the Playboy Mansion - with thinly disguised 'fake niceties' to make her cattiness appear unintended and innocent. I wanted to stop reading after the what seemed like first several chapters that delved into the author's Polish ancestry - I don't need a history lesson on Poland - now or ever really. I bought "Bunny Tales: Behind Closed Doors at the Playboy Mansion" - not an autobiography on the imaginary trials and tribulations of Izabella St. James. From the title of the book, to me she has zero value other than to answer the silly questions I have about life at the Mansion. All in all - the book answered questions and curiousities that I had. It was just difficult to weed through all the trash talk on the current girlfriends (could she BE more envious of Holly et al?), all the hatefulness she spat in ref to Hef, etc. Dude - you lived in the Playboy Mansion and sponged off these people for years. Get over yourself and show some appreciation. I don't recommend this book. There have got to be better ones out there.
Book Review: I'm a bigger sucker than Hef! Summary: 1 Stars
I can't believe I contributed my time and dollars to reading this book. I had no idea how far this woman would go to make a dollar. She obviously has no regard for other people's children. And I am disgusted with myself for being a contributing factor that she ran all over a man's children and humiliated them for some profit. I feel sorry for the injustice Hugh Hefner suffered as a result of his generosity to this woman but he should have done background checks. She says she is from Poland but has a typical Hungarian viewpoint, "love to hate". She is blame blame blame and so condescending of everyone she ever mentions in the book. The good news is other people can be protected now as they read the book and figure out for themselves just how dark a soul can get.
Book Review: If You Like Girls Next Door, You'll Love This Book Summary: 3 Stars
Okay, so the writing is really pitiful. Was there an editor? Wow. I've honestly never read such poor writing in a published piece of work. It's like sixth-grade quality. That being said...this is some juicy stuff! I'd skip the first two chapters because they are BORING! She just talks about her life growing up in Canada. Do we really care? I didn't, and I don't think you will, either, so skip it. The really good stuff comes later in the book - I believe it's Chapter 12, "How to Make Love Like a Bunny." You KNOW that's the stuff we all want to read, right? Oh it's eye-opening, alright. More than you ever wanted to know about old Hef. Goooood stuff.
Book Review: If you want to know the truth, this book is worth the dough.... Summary: 5 Stars
There is a lot of negative feedback out there about this book. Don't believe the hype. This book is great! It is easy to read, interesting, and gives the details everyone wants to know. The author goes into explicit detail about group sex, so this book might not be for the squeamish. If you love The Girls Next Door, you will love this book.
Book Review: If you're looking to read a bitchfest, this is your book... Summary: 2 Stars
How ungrateful and bitchy can she be? One minute she's telling us how great the lifestyle is and how wonderful the pay is, the next she's complaining and bashing Hef. Sure the lifestyle is strange, different, exotic, and crazy, but that's what you signed up for! The book is poorly written and really distastefully done, she brags about being the "lawyer bunny" but doesn't portray her smarts in the book. It doesn't go into details of the sex or the "inside scoop" it just complains about how she was somehow short-changed in her experience... I'm glad I didn't pay for the book, it would have been a waste of money!
