This is on the whole an excellent hiking guide to a wide range of desert areas in CA. The trail descriptions are excellent and the selection of hikes included is broad. I would point out that some of the material (specifically the hikes for Mojave National Preserve) is published elsewhere by the authors so you may discover redundancy if you already have an extensive library of books on CA desert regions. As a one stop hiking guide for serious desert day hikers though it is a great resource.
