Lt. Buck Compton -- a great representative of not just the 101st Airborne or Easy Company, but for the whole of the Greatest Generation. I like that this book covered Buck Compton's life before during and after Band of Brothers. His greatest fault seemed to be that he cared to much for his men--that says much for his character!
This is a must read book for all WWII airborne readers. I also really gained insight into growing up in LA in the 30s and UCLA sixty years ago. I feel like I really got to know the man--Buck Compton--personally.I'm sure this is due in large part to the excellent writing and editing of the co-author, Marcus Brotherton. I'm looking forward to more from Brotherton.
I've read about every book about the Band of Brothers in Easy Company and without a doubt this one is right up there at the top--just below the book that started it all, Ambrose's "Band of Brother."
