Reminiscent of Bridget Jones, Emma Corrigan is trying to succeed (albeit, desperately at times)- in life, work, and love. In her new job as a marketing assistant, she hasn't been asked to do much. Basically she is a secretary with a glorified title. Due to scheduling conflicts, she is the only one available to visit a client to close a deal. All she had to do was work out some minor details. Needless to says, things don't work out very well and that is despite her valiant efforts. On the plane ride home, there is quite a bit of turbulence that scares Emma into revealing ALL her secrets to the handsome American man sitting next to her. Unbeknownst to Emma, that man happens to be the CEO of her company, Jack Harper. EEK!!!
There are some great, laugh-out-loud moments that result- Jack enjoys hinting at her secrets, making Emma nervous, even though no one else catches the double meanings...
Though, I didn't enjoy the story as much as the Shopaholic books, it is still a fun read. My big complaint is that there is a lot more instances of profanity than in Ms. Kinsella's other books- the f-word has no purpose or meaning other than being a horribly crass and ineffectual way of expressing oneself. A disappointment for me, but others may not be bothered. Overall a light, breezy, fun, quick read! Great for a day at the beach or a long car ride...
