Book Review: Only if you've never heard the word meditation

I really really like David Lynch's work. I will always remember how the "Twin Peaks" atmosphere bled into my sense of reality before, during and after airing. I ordered the book for an opportunity to find out how the heck he conjured his exceptionally unique and magical ideas. I learned that he derives them from daily Transendental Meditation. I learned that in his short prologue. The rest of the "book" (one short comment on each page)was a waste of my time. Book Review: A David Lynch/TM masterpiece

This book will give the reader an insight into how practicing meditation (in this case Transcendental Meditation--or 'TM" as it is known) impacts on the life of a genius artist/movie maker.
In simple, humble, yet concise and insightful short 'chapters', Lynch gives us a peek into how TM enhances the creative process. He debunks the long-held and widely accepted premise that an artist must be suffering and tortured in order to produce movies such as Lynch's dark works. There is a common misconception that meditating and achieving 'inner peace and tranquility' will dull the creative process. Not so! with TM, according to Lynch. He explains how developing more of our mental potential can only help us be more effective in creating our works of art.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! David Lynch changed the way I look, dude, at LIFE! His movies changed the way I look at other movies. Now his book, dude, has changed the way I look at other books.
David Lynch, daddy-o, you're the COOLEST! Your rockin'-good book changed the way I see my world, and the way I live my freakin' life.
Book Review: For film buffs only

This is what I call a "long article" book. When I was very young, there were general interest magazines that contained long articles. No such magazines exist any more, so long articles are made into books with lots of white space and sometimes chapters of one or two sentences. That is the case here. This book does talk about meditation, but is so specifically directed towards film that it will probably be worth the cost only to people extremely interested in how David Lynch makes movies.Book Review: Beauty through Simplicity

David Lynch proves in this fine book that mastering creative genius is a beautifully simple process that can be achieved by dwelling in a relaxed state of mind. His words of wisdom are inspirational for whomever is struggling with issues of personal identity or creative focus. This is such a positive and uplifting work!
