Book Reviews of Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the TaoBook Review: A Trusted Mentor Teaches You How to Fly Summary: 5 StarsHaving been a fan of Your Erroneous Zones for many years, I found this book to be a little intimidating upon first glance - mainly by the sheer volume of the the thing. But I found it to be something savored and was very sad when I finally came to the end - like having to say goodbye to a trusted mentor who tells you that you need to fly on your own... a little like that...

Book Review: Take Your Time Change Your Life Summary: 5 Stars I bought Change Your Thoughts with the idea of reading through it like most books in a fairly quick manner. Now almost six months later I have closed the back cover, but not for long.
This is a book to savor. Not something you would rush through in a few days.
This is Wayne Dyer's very personal interpretation of the Tao Te Ching, by the sage Lao-tzu.
I quote from Dr. Dyers preface:
"Change Your Thoughts--Change Your Life, is the end product of my yearlong journey of research, contemplation and application of the Tao Te Ching ...."
Each of the 81 verses is treated as a separate chapter. First you read the verse, then you read Wayne Dyer's thoughts on what the verse means.
Each chapter includes a feature: Do the Tao Now. These are exercises that help you practice the Tao. Quite often Mr. Dyer asks "What is Lao-tzu telling us?" Another question he often asks is: How does it apply to us today?"
I read one chapter a night, sometimes I spent more than one night on a single chapter just to make sure I understood what the verse meant, knowing that this would become a ritual eventually.
Now I have finished the book I am returning to the beginning and starting again, and there is something very Tao-like in doing that.
Wayne Dyer's insights into each verse often peppered with quotes from others slowly bring about a better understanding of The Tao, The Great Way. You get a glimpse of some of the struggles the author went through to find a way to explain a particular passage of the Tao. I found myself trusting him like a guide taking me through difficult territory, who's only concern is to bring you to spiritual awakening and a deeper appreciation for the Tao Te Ching and for the amazing man who wrote it.
If you take your time you will find this a book that opens you up like a flower, one petal at a time.

Book Review: Change your thoughts - Change your life Summary: 5 StarsWayne Dwyer has such a simple positive outlook on life. I love it! I actually purchased the book and 8 cd's for myself and 3 copies of the cd's as gifts.
Book Review: Very Insightful Summary: 5 StarsThis is a really spectacular book. I have the audio book (unabridged), and the delivery is great - to be expected since he's also a profressional speaker. I tend to be a skeptical sort, and watched one of his lessons on PBS not long ago... as I watched, I was at once very impressed but still very skeptical. Even so I coughed up for the unabridged audio book of this, and I'm glad I did. I also have an audio book simply of the Tao Te Ching (by Mitchell), which is far too short. Listening to Dyer's reading of each verse and several-minute discussion that follows, along with suggestions for practice in daily life, is VERY refreshing and allows me to think things over on my own before he's on to the next verse.
I very highly recommend this in the audio book format. Worthy of multiple listens - each time you find yourself thinking something knew... gradually building a very fine, personal take on the Tao Te Ching. I listen at work - playing one CD on repeat all day long. I'm constantly distracted from it while focusing on my work, but here and there I will dwell on some novel thoughts each day, and that's a very good thing. Easily worth the cost of the 8-CD set!
