Book Review: Very good children's book / Jazz CD combination

This is one of currently four Jazz-themed books from the people at "Baby Loves Music" that comes with a "Cool Jazz CD Inside" as the cover says. It further promises "sing-alongs, stories, and more" which might get some people's hopes up higher than what they will find as the content is "simply" Jazz music to illustrate the pictures in the book. But don't get the impression that you are not getting your money's worth here. These are some of the coolest children books I have come across. Actually, I think they are THE coolest due to the music on the CDs included. My two year old daughter loves them. Each CD runs between 15 and 20 minutes with each track clocking in one to two minutes so that young children can keep the excitement up.
The subject in/on Charlie Bird Counts To The Beat is obviously counting. Introducing the numbers from One to Ten is a saxophone playing owl, Charlie Bird, who gets support from One Orange Ostrich Playing Organ, Nine Naughty Newts Playing Nose Flutes, etc. You get the idea.
The simple pictures show the "musicians" and offer a chance to count them. But the music is the real winner here with lyrics like "One is the loneliest number" where one instrument after another plays just one note repetitively only for all to come together and exclaim "We are all One!". Another nice idea is The Three Happy Hippos Playing Harmonica which of course comes in a 3/4 beat. Or the Four Funky Fish Playing Fiddle which does exactly what it says on the tin - and gives you one of the best interpretations of Row, Row, Row The Boat... - ever.
