Book Review: A Primer for the Coming War.
Summary: 4 Stars
This is an excellent book, that is separated into two parts: the first half is all doom and gloom for us revealing all the challenges the world faces as China rises to prominence, the second half details the other side of the story and all of China's issues and challenges it is facing as it rises to prominence.
In the first half, it talks about Chinese firms(?) purchasing plants and equipment from multiple countries such as Germany, and continues with the Chinese taking all the work from the other countries such as the U.S. and the fabric industry in Italy.
The second half speaks of dire issues, I am not sure how China will overcome, such as an imbalance of female population, and and aging population... think baby boomers, but by the billions. Not mention their staggering population, how are they going to accommodate all of these people as they rise in their socio-economic status (i.e. as they buy cars, need to travel, need electricity, and the need for oil)
Kynge uses a little bit of history to establish a background for these issues. I enjoyed this book, and I don't think you would need a background in Chinese politics or U.S.-Sino relations to read this book. I read this book in preparation for an international business course specializing on China and it was a boon.
