Book Review: A wonderful heartfelt book
Summary: 5 Stars

This was an absolutely wonderful book. It was a story filled with so much love. It is certainly a tear jerker; I sobbed my eyes out at the end but anyone who loves horses must read this book. This book shows people how to love again.

Book Review: Absolutely wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

I picked this book up on a whim over the summer while visiting a bookstore and it always seems wrong to me to leave a bookstore empty-handed. I carried it with me from place to place for almost 6 months before chance found me in a "need a book" situation and this the only book handy. I'm kicking myself now for not reading it sooner! Susan Richard's writing style is immediately engaging and she draws you into her narrative so quickly, you'll be halfway through the book before you know it. She recounts the details of her childhood in such a way that she elicits your sympathy without cloying for it. Unlike another reviewer, I cannot say on which page I was when the tears started to flow because they were speckling up my glasses so that I could barely make out the words on the page. This book evokes the same feelings as the movies "Terms of Endearment" or "Steel Magnolias": you know what's coming, but you're enjoying the journey so much, you can't turn back and wouldn't want to. I'll definitely re-read this. Sorry, Mom, you'll have to get your own copy!

Book Review: Amazing and highly recommended
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book in two great gulps--half one night, half the next. It is that entrancing. I've always loved horses, having grown up with them, but I think even those who just have a love for animals will enjoy it. And as several other reviewers have said, I cried at the end, sobbed, really. The book is about more than a horse, it's about the author's life, but not to the point that you keep thinking, "But what about the horse?" She's always there, always teaching lessons with her gentle ways. I do love books about real animals, and I do love memoirs--this was the best of both worlds. The best part was that the writing was so clear and easy to read. Like I said, I read this 250 page book easily in two nights, because it pulls you in so quickly and so thoroughly. If you're looking for a memoir and/or a book about real animals, you can't go wrong with this book.

Book Review: Amazing story, well written, a must-read for anyone
Summary: 5 Stars

I picked this book up at a bookstore while I was waiting around for my car to be serviced. Having no intention of buying the book, because I'm not "into" horses, I thought I'd skim through it to see how the author started her story. I'm taking a writing class about spirituality and inspiration. Well, let me tell you, I ended up resenting the fact that the car repair called me right in the middle of my reading--I'd read about 25 pages. I dashed over to cash register, bought the book, drove home (it took me an hour) and all I could think of was how I could hardly wait to get through dinner and settle down again with that book. At 12 midnight, I finished the book, crying my eyes out, trying not to wake up my husband sleeping peacefully at my side. What a book! Susan Richards, keep on writing! We need your sensitivity and insights!

Book Review: An Amazing Read; Not Just for Horse People
Summary: 5 Stars

I've read so many books lately on women and their horses and they have all been a disappointment. I almost didn't read this book but that would have been my loss. I picked it up and read it in one sitting. The author so bravely shares her inner journey and the echoes of her past childhood that make it impossible for her to really move on without the unconditional love of an amazing horse.
For anyone who has ever known the pain of loss or a childhood without proper nurturing or loved an animal and faced that difficult decision on when to say goodbye, this book is a must read.
Thank you Susan Richards for writing a book that will stay with me forever.
