Book Review: "...even when the poet is in the past tense."
Summary: 4 Stars
A pretty quick read - the writing is fantastic and moves at a steady pace and the story was engaging. I loved the attention to detail and a balanced humor: "It was the saddest little chicken I've ever seen, bedraggled & dazed. A healthy sparrow would have torn it apart in a street fight." The final chapters just clip off the strength a bit - the sudden departure from well-rounded writing to an almost rushed "bye now, gotta go" was a bit disappointing. From the ponderings of what happens to the light from stars (why it is isn't bright constantly) to an observation of writer's works being referred to in present tense even after they are long gone - the book deserved an ending that followed through. The elements of the ending were great - just felt like the author quit on the story and left the naked framework exposed.
