Book Review: A strange and entertaining little tale
Summary: 4 Stars
Set on a completely isolated island in the Antarctic ocean, Cold Skin is told from the point of view of the unnamed protaganist. He has been hired to live and work on the island for one year, tracking weather patterns. The tiny island has only the weather station house and a lighthouse on it; the only (human;-) neighbor a mysterious and taciturn man found living in the lighthouse. When night falls the protaganist discovers that there is indeed something worse than just the isolation of being in the middle of nowhere....horrible sea monsters who come onto the land when it's dark.
A wierd yet compelling tale, the book is part sci-fi, part horror, and part adventure story. It's really short (under 200 pages), and easy to zip through in a day, which you'll want to do to find out what happens. My one complaint is that a few things are left unexplained, which bothered me. Just little things, but annoying none the less. But, I'd still recommend this book as an entertaining read that will have you racing to the end to see what happens.
