Book Reviews of Color Me Beautiful

Book Review: What seemed new now seems timeless
Summary: 5 Stars

When this book was originally published,so many women benefitted from the simple concept of knowing what your best colors were and buying only those colors. Once I knew I was a summer, I saved hours of shopping time because now I knew what colors would look good. I also understood why I always felt great in ice pink: it was a one of my colors and subconsciously I felt more confident wearing it. Frequently overlooked is the money saved by NOT BUYING clothes that look good on the rack but don't look good on you. 12 years later, the same colors still make me look good. It's a simply ingenious system.

Book Review: Who hasn't been influenced by this?
Summary: 4 Stars

My mother bought this book about 16 years ago, when I was in elementary school. I borrowed it frequently and read it over and over. The poor thing has fallen apart and pieces of it are all over the house. I should buy her a new copy.

Anyway, the influence of this book has followed me ever since. It taught me about color properties: the difference between muted and clear, how to identify a blue-red as opposed to a yellow-red, and more. It also taught me about shape, proportion, and balance in clothing. Most importantly, the book showed me how to figure out which styles and colors would be suitable for me to wear. I don't know how I would have learned any of this without this book.

I didn't give 5 stars, however, because the color group descriptions are too caucasian-centric. They should revise the book to be easier to use for more ethnicities.

Book Review: You Can Feel Confident in Your Style Choices
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book in 1983 and it literally changed the way I think. I had understood the concept of color, but never applied color analysis to skin tone -- only hair and eyes. After reading this book, I determined my seasonal palette and have been faithful to it since.

It's nice to know I look good, and decisions have been simplified. Wardrobing gets easy with Carole Jackson's help.

Book Review: You can't get the colors
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent book which I refer to often. The pity is that the colors I need never seem to be available.

Book Review: a "Fashion life-changer"!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book has helped me, and its follow-up, "Color for Men" has been a boon and using the right color is a practice that I have used for 20 or so yrs.
