Book Reviews of CookingBook Review: Fantastic Beginner/Intermediate Book Summary: 5 Stars
I've been cooking fairly seriously just in the past year or two, and have stopped buying books for the most part. After spending about five minutes browsing through this book, I needed to buy it. I don't regret it for a second.
The book is beautiful - big, well photographed, easy to read, and is thorough without talking down to you. The book covers all of the basic cooking techniques with recipes to go along with each section. The recipes themselves are very French based but with quite a few variations on many classics; there are also great sections on breads and desserts (over 100 pages!).
Excellent. It would make a great gift for any foodies in your circle.
Book Review: Fantastic Cookbook..... truly beautifully written and illustrated! Summary: 5 Stars
I love all of James Peterson's books and recipes that I have tried....this one is the best so far... the book is well worth twice the price! It is exceptional for any level of cook- wish that I had this as my FIRST cookbook... it may have been the only one I truly needed to learn from!
The section on lamb is stunning....
Book Review: For sure, my favourite cookbook Summary: 5 Stars
I wish I had learnt to cook with this book, it would have saved me a lot of time.
It has taken my cooking skills to a different level, even though I have been cooking for many years. This book is full of good tips and the recipes do work. It is perfect for someone who cooks every day, it has very good detailed instructions, yet the recipes don't take a full day of prep and most ingredients are easily available. A purchase you won't regret!
Book Review: Geat suff Summary: 4 Stars
Certainly one of the best cook books I own...great pictures on how to do certain dishes, its a lenghty book but perfect for a beginner in the cooking department...follow everything carefully and you will surprise yourself and yor guests !! Worth the money....
Book Review: Good for beginners Summary: 4 Stars
I read through the major sections of this book and it has been very enjoyable. The information on roasting makes a beginner like me understand that there is so much to learn about cooking well versus just throwing things in the oven. The pictures are great on the main techniques for cooking, but this is not the standard recipe cookbook in which you get a recipe and a picture of the finished product on the opposing page. I like getting ideas of what the finished product looks like but those books rarely get into the type of details that Peterson's book covers. So I find myself selecting a dish from the recipe book and then using Peterson's book to put the pieces together.
