Trail Stop, Idaho: Cate Nightingale, a young widow with 4 year old twin boys, owns and manages a bed and breakfast inn. Calvin Harris, a jack-of-all-trades and everyone's handyman, loves Cate from a distance. Clueless, Cate appreciates his help but she never NOTICES him. This has been going on for three years and it a little hard to believe he has been waiting that long.
One day Mr. Layton, a guest at Cate's B&B, takes off via the window in his room and leaves some luggage behind. Hitmen are involved and threaten Cate and Neenah, a friend and neighbor. Cal becomes He-Man and Creed, his former commander in the military, joins him. Creed has been harboring a love for Neenah longer than Cal has loved Cate. Neenah is also unaware of how Creed feels. There is more but you'll need to read the story.
Honestly, I did read the entire book. OK, I was a sucker for Cal and Creed. The book could have been better if it wasn't just so long-winded.
