Book Review: Interesting, if slightly garbled.
Summary: 3 Stars
A very interesting read, if you know something of the history of the Mayerling affair and the legend of the supposed suicide pact. The author flits backwards and forwards a lot and has a slight tendancy to ramble on. The so expert opinions are somewhat vague but, nevertheless, they do confirm that Mary Vetsera was killed by a gun-shot. As the book was originally written in German about happenings in Austria both in the 1990's and in the latter part of the last century, therefore when translated, the translator should have included some footnotes to explain references to which a German speaker or German or Austrian national would automatically understand. However, that aside, it was a very good read and I did have some trouble putting it down!
