Book Reviews of Cut

Book Review: A realistic portrayal of pain some experience.
Summary: 5 Stars

Written from the standpoint of therapy sessions, Cut by Patricia McCormick is a short, yet powerful book.
Callie enters the treatment facility Sea Pines (or known to residents as "Sick Minds") and exchanges her troubles with a therapist. The book follows the events and emotions that have led Callie to begin cutting herself.
Although some of the book is written in the second-person, it is not difficult to read once you get in the groove of the book's format.
A highly-recommended books for ages as young as middle school.

Book Review: A strong and powerful book
Summary: 5 Stars

All I have to say if Wow. The way Patricia writes this story is amazing. I found myself crying at many parts of the book. This is written in first person, where a girl was sent to a group therapy place for cutting. She encounters girls with drug abuse, anorexia and etc. She withdraws herself form everyone and dares not to expose her secret which would be the cutting. Throughout the book, she talks about the way she feels in the therapy place, what she sees, how she acts to many things and what made her start cutting. I have to say it is a strong book. The style in which is written can make you imagine as if you were Callie. I say that you would have to give this book a try. You get into it after the first few pages.

Book Review: A true life story for some teens
Summary: 5 Stars

Callie cuts her self but never too deep, never enough to die. But enough to feel the pain. This is how Callie deals with all the bad stuff in her life. What happens to Callie? She ends up in this rehabilitation center to try to get her life back on track. She gives everybody there the silent treatment. Until she decides she wants to try to get better. Find out what happens to Callie by reading the book. I think it will probably be one of the best books you have ever read. It was one of the best I have ever read, next to Go Ask Alice.

Book Review: A waste of my money.

Ok, this book sucked!!!! It doesn't cover the issue of cutting, it was just a story of a lonly girl in a psychiatric ward. It's on of those books that you think is good if it has a good first chapter and it drags on to a unrealistic ending. You would be better off sleeping during the time you are going to read the book and say you read it and get away with it. It's that freakin' boring!!!! I wasted freakin' $5 for nothing. If you disagree with me and say I don't know anything about lit., I'm considerd a genius in that topic (Just ask Northwestern!)

Well, I gotta go. Korn music videos are callin' me!

Book Review: A wonderful book
Summary: 5 Stars

Cut by Patricia McCormick is a great book. I just finished it last week. It is about a girl who cuts her self and never speaks of it, untill the day she forces herself to. I reccomend this book to anyone who has read Melvin Burgess's Smack or any other book related to cutting. The best part of the book is the ending. It is truely touching and suprising!
