Book Review: An Excellent Debut Novel (Cut) by Patricia McCormick
Summary: 5 Stars

Like no other book ever, this book, Cut, by Patricia McCormick, gives the inside views of one girl, Callie, and what she experiences while at Sea Pines, or as it's patients say, "Sick Minds". Sea Pines, is a home for young girls with medical/mental conditions. And what is Callie in for exactly? Callie cuts herself. She likes the thrill, the exhilarating experience she gets from it. She is silent-always. She doesn't like to talk. She uses immense amounts of energy to not talk. She doesn't talk in Group [Therapy] or Individual Therapy, until after one evening after dinner. She took a tin plate that had once had pie in it, and by breaking it, it transformed into a beautiful, shiny, sharp cutting edge. Late that night, when all of the patients are fast asleep, she cuts herself--for the first time since her visit at Sea Pines. Only this time it's different. There is no exhilarating experience. It's painful! After this experience, Callie wants to get better. She tries to talk. She tries hard to change her bad habit. This review will never do this author's (Patricia McCormick) debut novel any justice. To get the full experience of Cut, read it. An excellent choice of reading.

Book Review: An Excellent book.. take it from me
Summary: 5 Stars

I first read this book when I was forced to stop self mutilating myself a few years ago.. and let me tell you. It is excellent! Everything about it was so real. I knew everything that was going on in Callie's mind.. and even from the stand point of someone on the outside looking in, it lets you feel what it feels like for someone who "cuts" or who does other self mutilation practices. I was floored by the truth in this and found it nothing but excellence!

Book Review: An amazing book for all to read
Summary: 5 Stars

I thought that this book was amazing. I love how well it flows and the progression that Callie makes throughout the book. The fact that she is hiding a secret is what made me really want to keep reading. You don't find out what the secret is until the end but it is worth reading to find out.

Book Review: An amazing first person view...
Summary: 5 Stars

Cut is an amazing book that shows what a cutter goes through. Patricia McCormick did a wonderful job with Cut and I hope she continues to capture the world with her new view of writing. Cut is a great novel.

Book Review: An intense read
Summary: 4 Stars

Recently I read the book Cut. The main character of Cut is a teenage girl named Callie. The plot of this book is sometimes happy, sometimes sad and sometimes just confusing.
In this book Callie cuts herself and goes to a treatment center called Sea Pines. Callie calls it Sick Minds. She doesn't speak for a long time until someone with the same problem comes to Sea Pines. Everyone is shocked when Callie speaks, once she starts speaking she finds out that she really likes the girls she lives with.
As I said before Callie cuts herself, never enough to die, just enough to feel the pain. Callie is most likely cutting herself because she is feeling angry or depressed.
I recommend this book to people that like realistic fiction that are in the seventh grade or older and aren't looking for a flowery book.
If I had to rate this book on a scale of one to five, I would give it a four out of ten because it could have been longer. It left me hanging a little bit.
