This is a great book, and DMSO is a great substance. The book is full of everything you'll ever need to know about DMSO and is completely research-based.
Book Review: DMSO a pain killer Summary: 5 Stars
DMSO: Nature's Healer is a great book of facts and lab test from the late 60's. There's not much info on DMSO on the internet or anywhere else to my knowledge. This book is informative enough for the average minded person, maybe not for a slow learner.
I have used DMSO myself and find that its best benefit is a pain killer. I smashed and cut my pinky toe with a hair dryer (fell off the counter). The pain was so intense I started going into shock. I was bleeding profusely. My husband helped me get stabilized. I had never used the DMSO on an open cut before but I tried it. I applied a weak solution (about 20% DMSO) and within minutes the pain stopped completely. I was astonished, I still am. The cut stopped bleeding and closed, yes it closed. All swelling went down and the blackish color of my toe faded to pink. Two weeks later it still hurts if poked at but I've walked without a limp since it happened. I sprayed the injury 1/2 dozen times after the initial accident and all is well. I ALWAYS make sure the area I use it is as clean as possible. It's amazing that DMSO is nothing more than tree juice! Try it, it beats getting a staph infection at the local ER.

I bought the DMSO after reading the book. I use it now and then.
Book Review: DMSO really works! Summary: 5 Stars
The healing power of DMSO discussed in this book is no exaggeration. I've been using DMSO on and off for exercise related injuries since 1983. It really works.
Depending on where it's applied, sometimes the skin will burn and itch for about 15 minutes and look like a bad sunburn afterward. This is temporary and harmless. On other places I will feel almost no sensation. It's especially effective on a fresh tissue injury. Since it quickly penetrates the skin and enters the blood stream, within a few minutes of application there is always a fishy taste in my mouth. One social side effect of frequent use is that the user will emit a fishy smell! This is a small price to pay for those in chronic pain.
At least for me, the pain killing effect of DMSO is uneven. Sometimes it will kill the pain completely, other times the effect is partial. But it always does something. Unlike prescription painkillers, DMSO's effect is cumulative. The more frequently one uses it, the less one needs. The least irritating delivery system is DMSO combined with aloe vera gel. The deodorant type applicator is too messy.
It's unfortunate that mainstream medicine has shunned this inexpensive, safe and extremely effective healer in favor of expensive, addictive and dangerous prescription drugs.

VERY INFORMATIVE BOOK. iT IS TOO BAD THE THE FDA WANTS TO REMOVE OUR CHOICES IN HOW WE TREAT OURSELVES WHEN THEIR PATENTED MEDICINES ARE FAR MORE DETRIMENTAL TO OUR HEALTH.
