Book Reviews of Dead Poets Society

Book Review: A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'VE WATCHED THE MOVIE ABOUT 7 TIMES, BUT EACH TIME, I LOVE IT EVEN MORE! THIS IS AN OSCAR-NOMINATED FILM IN 1989 (I'M SORRY IT DIDN'T WIN THE OSCARS FOR BEST PICTURE). IT'S A TRULY INSPIRING AND POIGNENT STORY ABOUT HUMAN LIVES AND ASPIRATIONS. IT TELLS US THAT EVERY INDIVIDUAL IS BORN WITH A DEEP SENSE OF LOVE AND PASSION IN THEIR HEART. BUT SOMETIMES, IT NEEDS THE RIGHT KIND OF ENCOURAGEMENT FROM A CARING AND UNDERSTANDING PERSON TO HELP BRING THEM OUT. EG. ONE OF THE CHARACTERS, NEIL, IS A GOOD STUDENT AND FILIAL SON BUT IS PRESSURED BY HIS PARENTS TO LIVE UP TO THEIR EXPECTATIONS TO BE A DOCTOR. BUT MR. KEATING, THE NEW TEACHER SHOWED HIM (AND THE OTHER STUDENTS) THAT LIFE IS TO BE LIVED TO THE FULLEST AND HE SHOULD FOLLOW THE WAY OF THE HEART. MR. KEATING ALSO BROUGHT OUT THE POET IN TODD ANDERSON, WHO WAS INITIALLY A VERY TIMID BOY OVERSHADOWED BY HIS OLDER BROTHER'S ACADEMIC ACHIVEMENT AT THE ACADEMY. THIS MOVIE/BOOK SHOULD NOT BE MISSED BY ANYONE - STUDENTS, WORKING ADULTS, PARENTS, EVERYBODY! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Book Review: A great movie to anyone who enjoys english and poetry.
Summary: 4 Stars

I have seen the Dead Poets Society twice now. The first time I watched it I did not really follow the complete content, but as I watched it for the second time I watched it more carefully seeing the characters for much more then I did before. They will inspire anyone into taking a deeper look at poetry. It opens up a complete new look on how to read and learn from it. Both the boys and Mr. Keating will make an impression on how you see and look at poetry. I recommend everyone to watch and enjoy the passion that is brought out in this film. It is one that you don't want to miss!

Book Review: A great movie...
Summary: 5 Stars

I did not get a chance to read the whole book but watched the movie. It is a movie that I would recommend to everyone I know. It is filled with real life lessons that change your life. Mr.Keating is played by Robin Williams and he does a wonderful job. He not only touches the heart of his students but also the watchers. We learn about Carpe Diem and how we should apply it in our lives in a safe way. Neil is an example of how tragic things can end when as a young student one tries to exercise Carpe Diem and deal with pressure from parents at the same time. Through the other students we can also get different points of views about Carpe Diem. The time frame is different and very well portrait with a mixture of great actors and music. One can relate to the actors in such a way that one becomes involved in their lives. Everyone should see the movie and learn to live life to the fullest.

Book Review: A really good book!
Summary: 4 Stars

I think this book is very well written. After reading this book, you will think of a lot of things. For me personally, there were a lot of difficult English words. There is always a tension in the story. So that means I would recommend it other readers.

Book Review: A surprising end
Summary: 3 Stars

This book is a story about the life in a academy. It is interesting to see how the different boys managed their school days .The main characters find a new way to express their feelings because of their new English teacher. He tells them to seize the day with poetry. I think it is understandable that some boys, above all Todd, don't understand their English teacher Mr Keating at first. It is interesting how he changes from a shy little boy to a boy who starts liking poetry and has his own opinion. I think the last scene is really typical of that. Todd is the only student who really takes part in defending Mr. Keating.
Neil is also a character who is very important in the plot. The passion for poetry and acting is really refreshing.
The end of this story was really surprising for me. I didn't expect Neil's suicide. I can't imagine how he could kill himself for his dream.
It was an interesting book but sometimes unimportant details are described too long.
