Book Reviews of Dead Poets SocietyBook Review: Excellent Summary: 4 Stars
I think it is a very good book with lots of things which make you think. I also think, that lots of things in the book are not quite well written. But at least it is a book you can't just put away without thinking about it. Suicide is not a way of dying you can't easily forget. I enjoyed reading the novel. Throughout the whole novel you get to know the figures better. I could somehow identify myself with the characters and at the end it was as if I actually knew them. It is a novel with young people, so I could understand the things they did even if they are different to me. They had the same problems as we have and they sometimes think about the same things. It isn't actually a story I could read twice because I know now the plot. What I didn't like was the fact, that Mr. Keating stood there as if he was the greatest man on earth and completely good. Every person has good and bad sides!
Book Review: Film better than book Summary: 3 Stars
I watched the film and I was very impressed by the strong conflict between the authority and the freeminded people. The director filled the scenes with beauty, love and humor but also with violence and the cold and strictly ruled atmosphere at Welton Academy. Mr. Keating tries to get the boys out of that coldness and to make them come up with their own thoughts. But he underestimates the danger and the consequences are horrible, because he and the boys don't have enough power to revolt against the authority symbolized by the parents and Mr. Nolan. But nevertheless Keating changes their lives, in a positive way for all of them. I like the the film, but I would have prefered to watch it without stopping it every minute and analyzing all the scenes. Carpe diem!
Book Review: Good book! Summary: 4 Stars
**** Good book! I find it a very good book. It's interesting to read. The book goes about a school. And the four pillars of the school are: "Tradition! Honor! Discipline! Excellence!" But there's a teacher, whose name is Mr. Keating, and he taught his students that every one should care about himself and that they should size life (carpe diem) I think the book shows that if we want something really bad then we have to fight for that with all our might.
Book Review: Good book, better movie. Summary: 3 Stars
Hi there. Just to please my English-teacher :) : I've read the book at school/home. We also watched the movie, and in my opinion, the emotions of the characters and all the atmosphere of the story are better caught here. The music is a big advantage . If you just read the book you will fail to entirely understand the dramatic moments . You can't right imagine what the actors perform. It's more impressive to watch the movie!
Book Review: Good novel Summary: 4 Stars
I have I have found it a very good book. It shows the life of students in a private school, about their problems and their dreams. The book is written with a lot of emotions and it tells the conflict between the parents, school and future dreams.
