Book Review: 4 stars for this, but 5 plus for the series!
Summary: 4 Stars
Let me start by saying I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this series. That being said, I almost put this first book down a number of times. If it weren't for the recommendation of a friend I trusted I may have given up. The first say.....40-70 pages were tough, because you needed to learn how this alternate reality changed the world. In most other urban fantasy/paranormal books, vampires, werewolves, witches and fae are living secretly in regular society. But in this series, the world was changed in the 60's due to a genetically mutated tomato that killed off half the human population, and made the supernatural beings come to light. So learning the new world, and new terms, and the police forces, etc. made it harder to get right into this book.
But once I did....WOW!!!! I was hooked!!! Jenks, the pixie, was such a standout character, and really what made this series stand out. He adds so much comedy relief to an action filled series. This series is tied for the top spot (with Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress) of all books I have read. I can't wait for her to write more!
