Book Reviews of Dear DiaryBook Review: awesome Summary: 5 Stars
if you were ever a teenage grrl in the burbs and hated it u must read this. or, if u ever went to hampshire college and were a neurotic, drug-addled sex addict u must read this.
its all so true.
lesley's story isn't unique, but what's remarkable is that she's documented well what bored teens in the burbs and HC alums have gone thru.
why do ppl raise their kids in the burbs? don't they know this is what they do to them? wtf.

Book Review: reading this book was like getting stuck in a phone conversation w/ someone you hate who doesn't stop talking about herself Summary: 1 Stars
This book was awful. I dont know Leslie, but after reading Dear Diary I know that I do not like her and I definately wouldn't be friends with her if I ever met her in real life. Everything is written in a very boring straightforward style. The format is: diary entry , then an "UPDATE:" where she simply explains the entry in detail. It's not clever or funny. And her interviews mostly don't even pertain to the entries. The problem is that I never really care about her enough. She never drew me in. The book was very detatched and it is so obvious that she is just writing for herself. Whats the point in publishing something if you don't realize that you have an audience?
Also, It's really selfish that she claims that she published her diary to help girls accross the country realize that they're not the only ones "that are going through it," when really she just wants everyone to read about her life and make a few bucks since Vice hooked her up with publishing.
Before I bought this book the reviews told me Dear Diary would be a funny, cute, cleverly written memoir but its none of these.
