Jessica Seinfeld's "Deceptively Delicious" bears a striking resemblance to Missy Chase Lapine's "Sneaky Chef"--from the recipes to the format of the book itself. The books could be easily mistaken for each other,except that Jessica Seinfeld leaves the cooking to her nannies, while Lapine has professional training.
"Deceptively Delicious" gets kids to eat healthy foods by concealing vegetable purees in everyday dishes like hamburgers and cookies. Instead of being upfront about getting kids to eat healthy, the entire premise of the book is to trick kids into eating healthy. Is it any wonder that celebrity mothers like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kelly Ripa gush over this book?
"Deceptively Delicious" is proof that Jessica Seinfeld doesn't do real cooking. One has to adapt the recipes to make them palatable, let alone how they should be. "Deceptively Delicious" is deceptive,but not delicious!
