Book Review: The Inspiration for Hitchhiker's Guide
Summary: 4 Stars
A flawed work by Sheckley (it does not 'end' it just stops) , but brilliant. He starts off well, you are sucked in to an amazing world, with the original Slartibartfast and Arthur Dent (Carmody). Sure, Douglas Adams took the ideas (and also from Vonnegut's (as Kilgour Trout)'Venus on the Halfshell') and put his own stamp on them. Sheckley did not, ending up writing all kinds of hack stuff. This is a piece of SF/Humour history, buy it! Sheckley is a giant who didn't quite make it! Educate yourself.
