Book Review: BLADERUNNER, not.
Summary: 5 Stars

This was QUICKLY released in Paperback with BLADERUNNER film artwork, and photography.

This was the FIRST Phillip K Dick book I ever read.

The plot [spoiler alert, I'm going to tell the mid-story plot twist.]: a street-tough, endebted, frustrated cop is being wooed to go to the frontier planets, by slick advertising. He finds there is no BEAUTIFUL new fresh worlds, he got shanghai'ed on a one-way trip to a penal colony. As far as THIS much storyline, Christopher Lambert's THE FORTRESS movie was closer, than BLADERUNNER!

The title comes from the post-Apocolyptic NEW religion of care for animals. SINCE MANKIND DESTROYED THE PLANET, it is mankind's responsibility, nay, SPIRITUAL DUTY, to care for one animal each. Since pets die, and there weren't enough to go around, our protagonist owns a fake sheep. [only film reference, Johanna Cassidy's line, "You think I'd be working in a dive like this if I could afford a REAL snake?"]

Phillip K Dick, the author, had a peculiar knack to start a story in the familiar, and just as you have adjusted to the setting, he 'hooks' you and pulls you out of the river. Then, You are left stewing in his fishing basket for the REST of the story.

The creation of a new religion, a new world of EARTH, and possibilities of power mad-businesses that get control of whole planets, and are allowed to lie in advertising to the over-populated earth; make the world of "Do Androids?" much like Phillip K Dick's, "Time Out of Joint," or, "Counter-Clock World."

Where the struggling everyman, is squashed by the corporate machine. His worlds are best represented in the films "IMPOSTER," "Minority Report," and "TOTAL RECALL." His PLOTS, are best represented by the film, "READ THE DAMN BOOK!"
