Book Reviews of Dogzilla (digest)Book Review: A thoroughly delightful children's book. Summary: 5 Stars
Dav Pilkey's "Dogzilla" is a delightful blast of pure silliness for kids of all ages. The pictures of a mild, slightly confused-looking corgi terrorizing the residents of Mouseopolis are virtually guaranteed to make anyone laugh out loud. (Confession: I had a corgi when I was young, so the book also pleases me from that standpoint.) I bought this for my niece Sophia, and she adores it. She can't wait to get to the end when she can yell, "PUPPIES!" with total joy and laughter. This book may cause you to yell "PUPPIES" at inopportune times, so be warned. Otherwise, "Dogzilla" is a totally joyous reading experience.
Book Review: Dav Pilkey RULES! Summary: 5 Stars
If you've got a kid and you want him to be a reader, get ALL the Dav Pilkey books. Now. My kid selected Dragon's Fat Cat at the bookstore at 2 and at almost 3 is bananas for Dogzilla, Kat Kong and Ricky Ricotta. I can't wait to get started on Ook and Gluk and we've got dibbs on his cousin's copies of Captn Underpants when they grow out of them in a year or so.
Book Review: Doggie Antics Summary: 4 Stars
We read this book at school. It is one of the funniest stories I have ever read. Then I found out we had a copy of the book in our school library! I have read other books Dav Pilkey has written. Dog Breath was great! Our school librarian cannot keep the Captain Underpants books on the shelves. I recommend you read Dogzilla. You will LOVE it!
Book Review: Funny Stuff Summary: 5 Stars
My 7 year old son just loved this book... cause of its funny text and even funnier pictures that go with the story. He also enjoyed Kat Kong. He is also a big fan of Ricky Ricotta.
Book Review: Funny a few times Summary: 3 Stars
Dogzilla has interesting illustrations and a long series of jokes, funny at different ages. My 2-year old likes most of it, except the bits with no dog in them (note that although she is dog-crazed, other books do not have to have a dog on every page; she likes good text, too). I found it funny the first few times, but it doesn't hold up to the number of readings she requires to digest a book. We tire of it and hide it before she is done with it.
