Book Reviews of DoveBook Review: Dove is a very interesting and exciting book of survival. Summary: 5 Stars
Dove is an incredible book. A 16 year old going around the world alone! Although he does find a girl named Patti on the way. Patti and Robin eventually married. Robin's parents had different thoughts about the voyage. His mother didn't want Robin to go, she even sent out helicopters to go after the brave minor! Robin's father had a different perspective of the idea. He was all for it! He thought that Robin should foolow his dream, which is sailing. I hope that you have enjoyed my summary. I highly recommend the book to kids 11 and older. Anyone younger might not understand. I hope that you read the book Dove very soon.
Book Review: Dove many years later Summary: 3 Stars
It was a very romantic story which left me wanting more than his tears. There was not what I wanted from a young man in the experience of his life.
The girl is in no way responsable for diluting what should have been a great sailing story. It just shows that youth should be spent growing up & doing these things when they area able to enjoy it rather than pine for a love who is trying to figure out how to meet you at the next port.

Book Review: Dove was a great book Summary: 4 Stars
I think that Dove by Robing Lee Grahm is a good book and sets a good example about courage and bravery. If you put your mind to it you can do anything you want and I think that this book says that.
Book Review: Dove, A truly great sailing adventure Summary: 5 Stars
I highly recommend Dove. It is a factual account of sailing and is very well written. It makes you think you are sailing with Robin. I am both a professional and amateur sailor. I had a full career in the US Navy and actually learned to sail on a navy two masted boat. I could not put Dove down once I started to read it because it was so true to life. I highly recommend Dove to anyone who loves adventure, traveling, and sailing. I have the original hard cover edition with the color pictures of coral atolls and coconut palms on distant motus. It truly inspired me.
I have been blessed to be able to sail both in Hawaii and in the far far south western pacific.
I now own the "Village Maid", a one off Pearson 27 foot, twin head sail cutter similar to Dove. She is the love of my life. I will sail her in the wake of Dove. Outward bound to Hawaii and then south south west to adventure. Tropical islands and coral atolls where the soft warm trade winds are forever blowing and the only sounds are the gentle rustle of palm fronds and the surf on the lovely white sand beaches. I will sail away to a distant world of beauty, laughter, and truly happy people on tropical islands and sun lit motus.
Robin's book was an incredible inspiration to me. It let me know that we can truly follow our dreams. I was especially enchanted by his writings and pictures of Fiji and Samoa.
I was privileged to be able to visit Robin in Feb of 2011 and have dinner with him. We were able to discuss winds, currents, and navigation in the south pacific and to plan my voyage. My adventures can be seen at topsailadventures.com. I will be looking for one or two crew members to cruise with me in the summer of 2011. My contact email is also on my website. It is palm_atoll@yahoo.com I have chosen to receive emails when someone comments on this review of Dove. Dove is really a must read for sailors, adventurers and anyone who dreams of Pacific islands, palm covered motus, and tropical sunsets.
fair winds and following seas to your own personal dreams

Book Review: Dove, by Robin Lee Graham Summary: 3 Stars
A very interesting book. I enjoyed the adventure very much, especially the love story. It was somewhat difficult not to see Robin as a spoiled rich kid though. Let's face it, how many fathers could afford to spend $8000 on a boat for a 16 year old in 1967. That was a pretty good fraction of a years salery for a well paid professional at the time. Still, there's no denying that Robin handled "the rough spots" on his own. I get the impression that Robin was (is) a person that had experienced wealth and rejected it for the freedom that doing without can bring.
