Book Reviews of Dream SnowBook Review: Taylor's favoritte Summary: 5 Stars
I am a BIG fan of Eric Carle and before this book was published, The Very Hungry Caterpilar was my favorite, now this one is both my four and one year old love it!
Book Review: Tested and true Summary: 5 Stars
My preschool students loved everything about this book. There was the mystery of the old farmer who looked like Santa Claus. Was he just a farmer or was he Santa? The animals with their number names caused a great deal of discussion among the children. Why didn't they have real names? The plastic overlays of falling snow and the song and light show at the end were over the top and caused a sensation. Dream Snow is a showcase of Eric Carle's genius. The story is very simple but readily engages children's minds and the visual presentation is tantalizing.
Book Review: We love Eric Carle books. Summary: 5 Stars
My younger students loved this book and took turns pressing the button to hear the magic jingle sound. Very enjoyable.
Book Review: a simple christmas story Summary: 4 Stars
mr. carle has created a wonderful series of children's books, first catching our children's attention with "the hungry catepillar." his medium is collage with which he creates beautifully colored pictures bringing to life his simple stories. this is a wonderful addition. we meet a farmer who could pass for santa claus. it's near christmas and there's no snow, an impending disaster. luckily he has a magical dream in which first he then his animals are covered one by one by snow. as we lift the acetate sheet, uncovering the animals on each page and we meet one through five. then the farmer awakes to find his dream come true and at last he can decorate for christmas. he finishes with a flourish giving us all a song to play. a great read for parents and children alike (a good book to read together)with lively art.
Book Review: dream snow Summary: 5 Stars
I think this a simply charming book. It offers a sense of warmth and peacfulness as he sits in his cozy chair has tea and bread & honey. It makes you feel good inside. The counting is simple and identified w/an animal. My daughter likes to guess whose under the snow before we turn the page & she especially likes pressing the button at the end. I am buying the book for my daugther's classroom.
