Book Review: Cool Jazz souds for little Boppers

This is one of currently four Jazz-themed books from the people at "Baby Loves Music" that comes with a "Cool Jazz CD Inside" as the cover says. It further promises "sing-alongs, stories, and more" which might get some people's hopes up higher than what they will find as the content is "simply" Jazz music to illustrate the pictures in the book. But don't get the impression that you are not getting your money's worth here. These are some of the coolest children books I have come across. Actually, I think they are THE coolest due to the music on the CDs included. My two year old daughter loves them. Each CD runs between 15 and 20 minutes with each track clocking in one to two minutes so that young children can keep the excitement up.
Duck Ellington Swings Through The Zoo as the animals there felt quite blue and called on him. - "he always comes through". His visit starts of with "Duck Jam" which has a funky backbeat that will get most children hopping instantly if my little sample group is anything to go by. It comes with a well delivered Rap, kicking it off: "Yeah, It's Duck In The House - F'shizzle". Man, I am an old school Hip Hop fan and hard to please but this is so well done! The Penguin Stomp will get even two years clapping to the beat. The Polar Bears enjoy some Monk - "That Old Jazz Time Sound". "Jazz For Snakes that slithered and hissed - Piano sounds sweet for the Zebras that kissed" is like Charlie Mingus' Sound Of Duke Ellington In Love: Just cool. "Coltrane For Monkeys" will broaden your child's musical mind.
The book features cute and simple paintings to illustrate the music which show the animals in the tunes.
