Book Reviews of Early Candlelight (Borealis Books)

Book Review: An adult novel from the Betsy-Tacy author
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm reading this book for the 2nd time and loving it just as much as I did the first time. It isn't a Betsy-Tacy book, but one Maud Hart Lovelace wrote years before for adults. It's historical fiction about her beloved Minnesota, and Mrs. Lovelace draws you into each and every life just as she did later with her semi-biographical Betsy-Tacy children's series. In this book she focuses on the early settlement of the Fort Snelling area near Minneapolis/St. Paul with the soldiers manning the fort, the local Native American tribes, the fur trappers, traders and Canadian voyageurs with their families. A more colorful group of people you couldn't ask for.
