Book Review: Entertaining, but dont believe him about Yugoslavia.
Summary: 3 Stars
The book is undoubtably enjoyable. Readers particularly interested in the chapter regarding Maclean's relationship with Tito should be aware that Maclean is held by many well informed historians and British soldiers to have been crucial in the deception of the FCO in the war which lent support to communists and that he did so because he and Churchill were successfully duped by communists in the SOE, ie J. Klugmann (look up the name in amazon; personal secretary to Churchill at one stage, and the "Fifth Man" was recruited by him according to one Times obituary) who successfully redirected FCO support from Mihajlovic's Partisans to Tito in 1944, leading to the communist victory in the revolution as well as the war against the Germans.
