Book Reviews of Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy EatingBook Review: Offers dietary wisdom and sound advice Summary: 5 StarsThis book is well researched and easy to understand, with sensible and practical guidelines to help readers make correct dietary decisions. Dr. Willett stresses that food that is good for you need not be boring or tasteless, nor does eating right have to be synonymous with self-deprivation. Although he cites the Mediterranean diet as a prime example of healthy eating, he points out that other traditional diets contain beneficial elements that are worth incorporating into one's eating habits. He has included some recipes, but I have found that the concepts embodied in his book can be very effectively utilized in conjunction with any cookbook that contains healthful and appealing recipes, a notion compatible with his "flexible eating strategy".

One volume I particularly recommend is Sonia Uvezian's "Recipes and Remembrances from an Eastern Mediterranean Kitchen", which provides cooks with hundreds of inspired recipes rich in flavor and nutrition as well as many innovative ideas that can be used in one's everyday cooking to make it more healthful and exciting.

Book Review: MUST BUY - Don't put your health at risk Summary: 5 StarsThis book tells you the facts about the food you eat, giving you easy to read solid evidence... It was exactly the book I had been looking for... It puts light on many myths... If you want to be healthy or loose weight this is the only book you will need!
Book Review: a solid diet book, can be abit boring but good recipes Summary: 5 StarsI bought living G.I, South Beach and "eat, drink, and be healthy" at the same time.I will say this G.I book only gives very basic knowledge on nutrition, so if you are really overweight and a new dieter, go ahead and buy this book, stick to it, and you might find a good result by changing the way you eat(more veggie, less refined grain) For those of you who are experienced dieter, and not even overweighed (just as me who is 23 and just want to shred a few pounds), I recommend you get the south beach book, as long as it worked faster and be able to give you a quick fix in few days. But personally, I did not resist for more than one week, I cannot live to that diet with too little variety of food (personal opinion). I tried the plan for 3 days and felt my waistline slim down a little bit (maybe it's just water loss) For people who are health conscious and is willing to modify their eating pattern for better health, I recommend you get the "Eat, drink and be healthy". It was written by a professor from Harvard medical school, and all the info he provides int e books are based on scientific research done by many researchers in the field over the past 20(30) years. The book tells you everything about what is good for you and what to avoid. If you are a health magazine subscriber, you will notice actually all the info from those magazines are more or less related to the points this Doc. presents in this book. However, you might get a bit bored by this book, because comparing to the other 2 books, this one is not colourful, and not written in "casual English".
