Book Reviews of Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Italy, India and IndonesiaBook Review: An Insightful Read Summary: 4 StarsThis book has everything; a little self help, a bit of romance, some humour, truth and of course travel. I found it both engaging and uplifting, and have brought 5 copies to give my female friends. Ms Gilbert's honesty jumps at you and personally I couldn't help relating to many of her fears and experinces. She writes with depth without being complicated. Highly recommended!
Book Review: kind, gentle and illuminating Summary: 5 StarsOne of the most enjoyable aspects of this book is experiencing the author's gentleness with both herself and everyone she comes in contact with. The humor (sometimes hilariously self-deprecating) is fabulous, but the way she genuinely desires, and eventually learns, to discover herself and give richer meaning to her life is what makes this book an illuminating reading experience.
Book Review: Groan Summary: 3 StarsWhat is it about this book that makes it so popular? Perhaps everyone dreams of making the journey Elizabeth Gilbert did - and got paid to do!
I had to read this for a book group and swapped it out as soon as I'd finished. It had been a long hard slog, especially the India section where the author drones on about the theory of meditation. Italy was a bit more interesting and I quite enjoyed Indonesia.
Amongst our book group, preferences were mixed; each of the destinations had their supporters and their detractors.
In my opinion, not up to the hype.
Book Review: Oh lovely! Summary: 5 StarsI should have given it 3 stars really - you know, the rule of 3s - but it deserves more indeed (and it won't let me rate it 9, let alone 108 stars) so it'll have to be a 5. It combines travel literature, Mind, Body & Spirit, and chick lit (although I admit I am not normally a fan of the latter, bar for Marian Keyes); it is funny, refreshing (a word I'm liking today) and good for you. Read it.
Book Review: A Beautifull Journey Summary: 5 StarsAn amazing book. This is the first review I have ever written. But I had to let you all now that you absoulutely must read this book.
