Book Reviews of Eating For LifeBook Review: A good basic nutrition book Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great book for anyone who wants to stay in good shape and eat simple-to-make nutritious meals. It's by no means a hardcore guide to dieting
or for those interetsed in getting into shape fast. Instead it's more of a good basic cookbook. I've been a personal trainer for many years and have referred many clients to it, especially clients who don't want anything to strict.
Book Review: A good start for healthy cooking Summary: 4 Stars
The recipes are convenient and basic, and you can substitute to personalize and make it your own. There are some good ideas I never thought of in here, such as using salsa to cook my chicken for fajitas instead of a seasoning packet. I'm not a huge fan of the desserts, but there is enough to keep me going in here that I keep a list of my favorite recipes from the book in my kitchen. I think you can increase the health standards of a few of the recipes by avoiding processed ingredients. Also, once you cook it, try to stick to your portion size!
Book Review: A must have! Summary: 5 Stars
Every recipe that I have tried has been amazing! A must buy for those trying to eat well.
Book Review: A true lifestyle that works Summary: 5 Stars
Hail Bill Phillips. I began a year ago with his best-seller, Body for Life, which is incredible in itself. His new cook book is an amazing supplement to that program and truly supports a manageable lifestyle, not a fad diet.Bill's philosophies are realistic, pragmatic, most of all effective. Being single, in Manhattan, I don't have the time or the patience for complicated, time consuming food preparations, that's why this program has been so effective for me, it's the exact opposite. I've lost almost 30 lbs and managed to keep the weight off now for almost a year. This book is filled with great recipes and the simple program is explained in an easy to read format. No gimmicks, just balanced meals with real food, that promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
Book Review: ABOUT TIME HE DID IT! Summary: 4 Stars
TWO YRS. AGO I DID THE BLF AND LOST 36 POUNDS WITHOUT DOING THE PROGRAM 6 DAYS A WEEK. I ACTUALLY HIRED A PERSONAL TRAINER BEFORE DOING THE BLF PROGRAM AND MY PERSONAL TRAINER SUGGESTED THE BLF BOOK TO HELP WITH MY EATING HABITS. I COOKED ON SUNDAY FOR 3 DAYS THEN ON WEDNSDAYS FOR ANOTHER 3 DAYS AND SUNDAYS WERE MY FREE DAYS. HOWEVER AS TIME WENT ON AND I BECAME VRY BORED WITH THE BLF FOOD LIST I BEGAN TO SLACK OFF. I BECAME VERY TIRED OF THE SAE OLD FOOD OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I BROGHT THE EATING FOR LIFE BOOK THE OTHER DAY AND COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW WONDEFUL THE MEALS LOOKED AND THE PICUTRES OF EAC INGRIENT YOU MADE NEED TO FIX EACH MEAL. I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE BEST PART! THE PICTURES OF THE ITMES. I AM GETTING MARRIED IN JULY 2004 AND I KNOW IF I GO BACK TO THE PLAN AND GET BACK TO THE GYM I CAN DROP THOSE POUNDS I GAINED BY MY WEDDING DAY IN JULY. IT TAKES DEDICATION TO DO THIS PROGRAM, AND FOR THOSE OF US WHO MAY WORK AND ALSO ATTEND SCHOOL OR WHO HAVE VERY HECTIC LIVES IT CAN BE A LITTLE CHALLENGING TO FIT THOSE MEALS IN OR MAKE THOSE PROTEIN SHAKES. BUT WHERE THERE IS A WIL THERE IS AWAY SO MAKE YOUR HEALTH AND THIS WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM PRIORITY IN YOUR LIFE, AND BE CREATIVE WITH PLANNING YOUR MEALS, IF U ARE AT WORK AN YOU CAN'T USE A LOUD BLENDER FIND A DIFFERENT SNACK TO TAKE TO WORK THAT CONSIST OF A PROTEIN AND A CARB AND THE BOOK GIVES YOU GREA SUGGESTIONS, FOR EXAMPLE, THE ORANGES AND EGGS ON PAG 301.
