Book Reviews of Eclipse (The Twilight Saga, Book 3)Book Review: The Best Installment Yet. Summary: 5 StarsI'll admit it--I'm a sucker for any novel or story that is remotely fantastical. I read in order to escape the mundane life that I have, the life filled with classes and studying and homework and lousy boyfriends. When I began reading Twilight a few years ago, I went into it with the idea that the story was going to be a complete fantasy novel. I was pleasantly suprised. The series is always caught between fantasy and simple teenage fiction--What is Bella worried about at any given point? Her biology homework or the rising tensions between the Quileites and the Cullens?
Eclipse, in my opinion, is the best installment of the Twilight series yet [She is currently writing a fourth installment]. She takes the plot and characterization to a whole new level, including new characters and giving older ones a breath of fresh air. Most importantly, every peice of the novel is believable; there is never a moment where I believe that Meyer is making a leap of logic, or leaving something out in hopes that her readers will not notice it. Meyer uses foreshadowing brilliantly, and her careful crafting of the rising actions kept me reading for four hours straight at one point. To all the hopeless romantics out there, Edward and Bella become closer than ever and take their relationship to a whole new level.
Personally, I was so excited as Meyer delved into the pasts of the other Cullens, namely Jasper and Rosalie, and laid their emotions and faults out for Bella and the readers to understand why they act the way that they do towards Bella and other humans. Meyer does not fall into the trap of letting secondary characters remain flat; she makes them round in a way that does not interfere with the plot at all. Each word, each page, each scene has a purpose in building towards the climax.
This book deserves all the praise it is recieving and more. However, I suggest that readers review Twilight and New Moon, especially if they have not read the preceeding books in a while. Eclipse includes many characters and minor plot elements from the first two books that may stump readers.
Book Review: Bella Jacob and Edward oh my Summary: 5 StarsI can see from reading some other reviews, that there are are some who found this installent of the series disapointing when compared to the to the other two books in the series. I see where it comes from too, Bella doesn't seem to be growing very much at all. We are three books down now and she is still being saved and comforted every few pages. Granted she has finally comprehended what being changed really means, but it doesn't seem to have made her any stronger. In fact she seems more willing to be lead round and have all her thinking done for her then ever. That said, to my suprise I liked Eclipse quite a lot, even if I didn't like everything in it. I think there are a few reasons for this.
I like Jacob, and as I said while reviewing New Moon I find the pack's story line compellling. So for me it was nice that Jake wasn't shunted to the side again once Edward and Bella were back on track. Also like most in the Jacob Bella Camp, I've been waiting for the %*#! to hit the fan for a while now so..
I was glad to finally understand why Rosalie is so touchy about Bella, and I found jaspers story interesting also it was good to see Bella become somwhat more aware of the repercussions of her action and choices. Even though it didn't help much.
I loved watching Edward deal with the fact that Jake was coming in so useful. It's great to see him sweat a little.
But mostly I enjoyed Eclipse Becaue it made my ponder new theories and change some less then favorable opinions I was harboring and thus made my see myself a little more clearly, I love when a book does that.
I'm going to stick it out. And see where everything ends up, I'm kind of looking forward to it.
Book Review: Spectacular Summary: 5 StarsI absolutely loved all three books. Eclipse couldn't have gotten better. I wish the story was never ending. I can't wait for her to come out with Edwards POV. I've already read the first chapter and i love it.
Book Review: An amazing complex relationship Summary: 5 StarsFor those of you who have not enjoyed this book yet, I will not give it away. Stephenie Meyer has done yet again, a fantastic book. From the first page you get sucked into Bella's world, and you won't be able to get out of it until the book ends. Stephenie does a wonderful job writing Edward and Jacob-you won't know which one you'll want Bella to be with. (And mostly likely you'll want to meet them.)
From the twisting romance between Bella and Edward, to her feeling between her Jacob-to the century old hate between vampires and werewolves, everything is believable.
Even though some of the other reviews might make it sound like a serious book-be prepared to be rolling on the floor with laughter in the arguably the best teen series books ever written.
Enjoy, and hope that the fourth book is as good as the first three!
-Edward and Jacob fan
Book Review: Amazing Summary: 5 StarsThe book was great. I have had it pre-ordered since april! It was suspenseful and there were plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained. The only thing that bugged me was in the beginning it jumped around a lot. Like you'll be reading a paragraph expecting the same line go on but it changes completly. But after the first few chapter i didn't notice it anymore so it was alright. It was a great book DEFINATLY worth 10 bucks! I can't wait for breaking dawn!!!!!
