Book Reviews of Elsewhere

Book Review: HMMM a bit of a Love - Hate
Summary: 3 Stars

HMMMM a bit of a love-hate.

Love the concept, love how elsewhere was developed loved some of the characters.

Liz frustrated me, The story line felt Gappy in some places like I really wanted more to happen- or more info.

The ending was kind of a fizzle to me to.
I still enjoyed the story, just was expecting a little bit more.

Book Review: Happiness is a Choice
Summary: 5 Stars

Great Discussion book. Great Book Period. This is one of the best books that I have ever read. My review doesn't do it justice, but that is just because I don't want to ruin this amazing book for you. Liz wakes up on a bunk in a boat not knowing where she is or how she got there. The shock of her life comes when she finds out that she is dead, the victim of a hit and run driver, and what's more important to her 15 year old self is that she will not turn 16 get her drivers license, go to college, get married or even get big [...]. This is a funny and heart-tugging book of Liz's journey through Elsewhere where she never gets older, but has an unexpected life and will grow younger until she is sent back to earth as a new born to experience life all over again. With the help of her grandmother that died before she is born, Liz makes this journey through anger, regret and triumph. It will definately make you look at the after-life in a totally different way.

Book Review: Heaven Sent
Summary: 4 Stars

"Elsewhere" starts rather jarringly from the perspective of the beloved pet of our heroine as we watch this pet mourn the untimely death of the book's said heroine, Liz. I wasn't too sure where the book would go from there and that's sort of the way the rest of the book feels.

From the opening, the perspective of the book switches from Liz's dog to the world as seen through Liz's eyes, a world that is complicated, jarring, surprising, enchanting and unexpectedly more awesome than the reader can imagine. A world with hints of the past (of lives lived, loves lost) but with its own fascinating infrastructure and unexpected twists and turns.

Between Earth and Hell, it seems, is a place called Elsewhere, a vivid, fascinating Heaven-like world drawn vividly from the imagination of author Gabrielle Zevin in a haunting, heartfelt novel that leaves you hungering for more and thoroughly in love with a cast of characters as diverse as ever pulled together an deft novelist, by fate...or in this case, death.

"Elsewhere" never quite stops feeling like a dream, as Liz says frequently, or a fairytale. And like a dream, it haunts you long after the fairytale is over.

Book Review: I still have not received this item
Summary: 1 Stars

I contacted the seller and they never responded. I needed this item for a class and I never received it. I would have liked notice so that I could purchase the item from a different source. I had to change all of my plans and am very disapointed!

Book Review: I'm Dead?
Summary: 5 Stars

Liz, a sixteen year old girl got hit by a taxicab and died. She ended up in a place called Elsewhere, where she has a new job, falls in love, and does normal things she would do back on earth. Liz wants to go back to earth really badly, but gets used to her new home and surroundings after a while.
My favorite part of the book is when Liz and Owen start to fall in love, but then all of a sudden Owen's wife arrives at Elsewhere. Owen was so happy she arrived, but Liz was not pleased at all because she knew Owen was madly in love with her first. Liz was very upset that Owen left Liz alone for a little while and went straight back to his wife. Owen's wife eventually left him anyways because by the time she got to Elsewhere Owen was too young for her. After that, Liz and Owen fell happily in love again.

Elsewhere is one of my favorite books I have read in my lifetime. It keeps you on the edge of your seat while you are reading. I recommend this book to anyone because it gives you a different idea on where you go when you idea. In the beginning of the book, you think you might be confused on what you're reading, but then every part of the story falls into place. It is really interesting and each chapter never gets boring. Something exciting happens each chapter.
