Book Reviews of Elvis and Me

Book Review: One star is too many!
Summary: 1 Stars

The old saying goes, "If you are going to get involved with a musician, be prepared". It's not a normal life and no musician ever pretended it was. They have greater temptations and problems than someone with a 9 to 5 job. Priscilla knew what she was getting into, before she got into it, so I have no sympathy for her. Understanding musicians is the key to a happy life with them. Apparently, she was too selfish to care about anyone else but Priscilla and how SHE could benefit. Elvis was no saint, but who among us is? I think Priscilla's bubble was burst when she found out that Elvis was a real human being! How childish can you get?

Book Review: One-Sided Story
Summary: 2 Stars

I originally read Elvis and Me about 10 years ago and it left me with many questions concerning Priscilla's intentions. Was this book really intended to tell the whole raw honest truth of the king and his bride OR to gloss Priscilla's image and leave her with a whiter than white reputation ? I decided for myself that the second reason was probably the truth. I could not help but feel that Priscilla used this book to boost her image and to provoke pity onto herself. This , in my opinion, was a PR motivated move by Priscilla Presley. I could not help but feel that she still has some resentment inside her for the years that she spent in Elvis' shadow and this clearly comes across in the pages. She has stated in interviews that she needed to "tell the truth" for the sake of her daughter, however in reference to the so called "rape" section (at the end of their marriage), what effect would this have on your child..and to tell the whole world ??, I am sorry but I feel that nobodys best interests were at heart except Priscilla's. I felt that most of the "story" in this book was what Priscilla wanted you to believe and I did come away with many many questions and doubts. I have recently read Child Bride and these very questions and doubts that I had were unbelievably covered in this book. I really am sorry to say, that Child Bride, with its much researched evidence and reliable scources, seems to be the accurate version (in my opinion) of events and the truth, surrounding Elvis and Priscilla's relationship.

Book Review: Presenting The Priscilla Myth
Summary: 2 Stars

Simplistic in its writing style, Priscilla tells about her life and her relationship with The King. The truth is heavily embellished and "Priscilla-tized", making for a great romance novel but not for an accurate account of how she met Elvis and their relationship. If you do read this book, you ABSOLUTELY MUST read "Child Bride" by Suzanne Finstad along with it, and judge for yourself if Miss Priscilla is being completely honest with herself and with her readers. I could not help but feel a strong underlying resentment and jealousy towards Elvis that seeps through her narration. Priscilla's book has many interesting revelations and anecdotes, but after you read "Child Bride", it's more intriguing to see what Priscilla didn't include in her autobiography than what she did.

Book Review: Priscilla Presley's life story with Elvis Presley
Summary: 4 Stars

Priscilla Presley begins the book by saying what she was doing when she heard Elvis Presley died and a call from thier only child Lisa Marie Presley. After that she goes back to the year 1956 when Elvis was 21 years old.

One evening her step-father came home and gave her a record album. This is right before the move too Germany. Priscilla's real father was a test pilot and was on leave to return home when he was killed in a plane crash.

Sometime later her mother married Paul Beaulieu (Priscilla's stepfather). Her real father James Wagner was killed. Two and a half later Priscilla's mother marries Paul. And soon they moved to Germany. Priscilla hears that Elvis Presley will aslo be in Germany too.

Elvis is in the army. One evening she meets Currie Grant. Currie arrages for Priscilla to meet Elvis Presley. And soon after thier first meeting, Elvis asks to have Priscilla at his house again. And by thier fourth meeting, Priscilla's step-father lays down the law if she wants to seeing Elvis. That he has to meet her mother and step-father.

Paul askes Elvis to pick and drop off Priscilla. But Elvis gets his old man to do it. His name is Vernon Presley. And soon Elvis has to return to the United States.

On the day Elvis and Priscilla goes to the airport and soon Priscilla is called by reporters "the girl he left behind." After a couple of years Elvis invites Priscilla to L.A. And a trip to Las Vegas. The book has 40 chapters. And is 320 pages long but still is worth 4 stars.

Book Review: Priscilla certainly lives a vivid fantasy life in this book...
Summary: 1 Stars

A piece of TRAILER TRASH WRITTEN by a piece of trailer trash. They'd laugh him right off the stage...Simon Cowell would give him a choice "review" of his "talent"....And WHY do you think a guy like Elvis would wait for someone like Priscilla? He didn't wait. He was a babe magnet. He had a whole entourage of woman drooling over him, and he's gonna "wait" for some 13 year old? Priscilla knew exactly what she needed to do to keep the guy. And it DIDN'T involve Tiddly Winks.. This book is PURE FICTION. If you expect ME or ANYONE ELSE to BELIEVE this garbage, you have some serious problems!!
