Recently I have been reading Linda and Bill Womack's wonderful book, Embracing Encaustic. Linda talks about the speed of wax. As a person who left oil painting for the "speed of wax" I understand how a person can feel that wax is fast. Linda names it "urgency." She eloquently tells us that encaustic "requires doing over thinking." She is very right. While the wax is hot, we better know what we are going to do with it.
This book is a must-have for any encaustic artist or anyone who is contemplating doing encaustic art of any sort. It is a fount of information, and a real gift to the growing community of wax artists.
