Book Review: Insightful but excessively long

The book is very interesting and plenty of information. However, after reading it you get the feeling that Paul Ekman could have written the book in only 100 pages or less. There are things in the book which are repeated exhaustively, the author could have produced a brief summary for each chapter with the major topics discussed within it. I am referring especially to the chapters describing the different emotions. I prefer something more concise with a list of characteristics covering the different emotions.
In respect to the information given in this work, I think it is extremely insightful, you can understand how emotions are processed, and their different characteristics which allow you to understand better other people around you. After reading the book, I was always trying to identify a specific emotion on everyone.
