Book Review: A Helpful Book, but Difficult to Read

Have you ever wanted to read people better? Do you ever miss clues that indicate a mood of an individual? Do you miss opportunities to connect to people because of the inability to reflect emotions back to them? If so, this is the book for you. The author does a wonderful job of detailing the make up of emotions. He gives practical advice on how to control your own emotions, the background of emotions, and how to read them and reflect them to others. The book is packed full of helpful information, though at some points, it seems overwhelming. The text does not read overly well, but the material is worth the time and trouble in searching out the golden nuggets of helpful information. There are pictures of the various emotions, and there are even pictures to help you break down the various components of each emotional reaction. This is the most helpful section. There is as a long section on whether emotions are culturally conditioned or universals. Some people might find this interesting, but I was looking for more of the practical information from the text. This is a good book to help people learn about emotions, and how to read them.
