Book Review: "Empire Falls" Small Town America
Summary: 5 Stars
"Empire Falls" is an extremely well written book covering the inhabitants of a small New England town that has seen better days. It closely follows the lives of one particular family, the Robys, and their assosciation with the very wealthy Whiting family of Empire Falls. There are many businesses in this town but almost all of them revolve in some way around the Whiting family, even the ones not owned by them.
The young people in the story and the problems they encounter at their high school are like those spelled out in so many news stories concerning tragedies that occur at so many schools. The charactors are very real whether they are the average town dweller or the wealthy members of the town. I would highly recommend this book of Americana to anyone.
